Experience

Amy is a Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families to better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and build on their strengths. She has a particular interest in working with neurodivergent children and young people, including those with Autism and ADHD, as well as children experiencing anxiety, emotional difficulties, learning challenges, and behavioural concerns.

Amy completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Queensland and a Master of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University. She has worked across community, hospital, and private practice settings, supporting children, adolescents, and families with a broad range of developmental, emotional, behavioural, and mental health concerns.

Amy is committed to providing evidence-based, neuroaffirming, and family-centred care. She values understanding each child's unique profile of strengths, challenges, interests, and support needs, and works collaboratively with children, families, schools, and other professionals to create meaningful and sustainable change. Amy believes that children thrive when the important people in their lives work together and therefore takes a systemic approach, recognising the important role that families, educators, and support networks play in a child's development and wellbeing.

A key focus of Amy's work is supporting parents and caregivers to better understand their child's experiences and needs. She enjoys helping families make sense of challenges through collaborative formulation and shared understanding, while also providing practical, evidence-based strategies that can be implemented across home, school, and community settings. Amy believes that when families understand the factors contributing to their child's presentation, they are better equipped to advocate for and support their child with confidence.

Amy has extensive experience conducting psychometric and diagnostic assessments, including assessments for learning difficulties and learning disorders. She is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS-2) and conducts comprehensive autism assessments for children and adolescents aged 4–17 years.

Amy takes a thorough, strengths-based, and neuroaffirming approach to assessment. She recognises that no single assessment tool can fully capture a child's experiences and therefore integrates information from multiple sources to develop a comprehensive understanding of each young person. Her assessments draw on clinical interviews, direct assessment, observations, questionnaires, developmental history, and information provided by parents, schools, and other relevant professionals. This comprehensive approach allows Amy to develop nuanced formulations and provide individualised recommendations that are meaningful, practical, and relevant to the child's everyday life.

Amy has facilitated group programs for children and young people focused on social understanding and anxiety management and enjoys supporting children and families to build confidence, resilience, and self-understanding.

In addition to her clinical work, Amy is a STAP-accredited Clinical Supervisor and is passionate about supporting the professional development of psychologists. She has experience supervising provisional psychologists and psychologists undertaking registrar programs and enjoys fostering a reflective, supportive, and collaborative supervision environment. Amy values helping clinicians build confidence in their clinical skills, strengthen case conceptualisation, and develop their professional identity.

As a mother of four children, Amy understands the rewards and complexities of family life and brings warmth, authenticity, and practical understanding to her work with parents and caregivers.

Amy provides evidence-based assessment and intervention for a range of presentations, including:

• Anxiety
• Depression and low mood
• Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Autism
• Low self-esteem and confidence difficulties
• Learning difficulties and learning disorders
• Emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Social and friendship challenges

Amy works at our Bulimba clinic and will be available for therapy, assessment, and clinical supervision when she returns from maternity leave August 2026.
